It was August 1999 that your PER came to the airwaves on the frequency of 89.9 as W-PER. Some of the first listeners knew something fresh for God was about to happen as we played Crystal Lewis “People Get Ready” (Jesus is coming) for 48 hours back to back. Even before that day our founders kept the hopes of a license to broadcast alive for a dozen years prior to our official sign on.

Our first pledge drive (share-a-thon) was held just 90 days after we first signed on. Only God knew if His people would support this new contemporary music station and dared to believe God would help it to grow. We were overwhelmed when on our 93rd day of existence PER was supported with our first $93,000.00 in listener support.

After a few years of both tough setbacks and major growth our board of directors took the huge step of faith and purchased WJYJ-fm Fredericksburg (90.5). This would allow us to more than double our music outreach! On Valentine’s Day 2006 God brought to pass the birth of Virginia’s Positive Hits music station…Positive Hits 89.9 & the New 90.5.

Today Positive Hits PER is heard on these two full power fm transmitters and to date 8 translators covering from Richmond to Winchester and everyplace in between; plus with today’s technology reaching the world via the internet from www.positivehits.org

This is just part of the story of your PER because it is much more then its humble beginnings and victories of growth throughout the years. It is the tens of thousands of letters, calls and emails of lives impacted by the love of Christ through the music! It is the gifts of love and support from people just like you that have allowed God to use PER for ministry in the moments someone needed it the most.
