6/11/22 – Gifts From Angels, AARP

Interview 1: Jeffrey & Kristen Sterner, Gifts from Angels

Gifts From Angels is a non-profit started by Jeffrey and Kristen Sterner that aims to bring encouragement to kids and families in pediatric units, but also to families in need throughout the community in various ways. In this interview they discuss how GFA was started, what gave them the idea, and different ways the community can get involved!

Interview 2: Rodney Harrell, PhD, AARP Vice President, Family, Home and Community

To help provide a clear picture of how well a community meets the needs of all people regardless of income, physical ability, age or ethnicity, AARP’s Public Policy Institute has launched an updated AARP Livability Index. This comprehensive, web-based tool scores every neighborhood and community in the U.S. for the services and amenities that impact people’s lives the most. The Index uses 50 national data sources − such as U.S. Census data − to measure 61 characteristics across seven categories: housing, neighborhood, transportation, environment, health, engagement and opportunity. Rodney Harrell, AARP’s Vice President of Family, Home and Community, will be available to discuss the 2022 AARP Livability Index, including the top scoring cities by population size and how your community scored. He can also share how Index data can highlight communities’ challenges and how each community can improve to become more livable for all people.
