An Important Message from General Manager Frankie Morea

Dear Friend

Would you agree that 2020 is going to be a year that stands out in our memory?  Certain words such as “social distancing” and “virtual learning” have become part of our daily life.  We have been blessed to have more time with those we love.  Bicycle sales soared.  More books and movie nights.  We pulled out board games and puzzles.  In between, we have become keenly aware of how much news we should ingest and which voices we should allow.  How do we navigate fact versus opinion?

If we aren’t careful to guard what enters our hearts and minds, the weight of what is happening around us can start to leave us feeling at best confused and at worst fearful and anxious.  Each day we are faced with a new set of guidelines, regulations and decisions.  Just take a moment to think about what back to school looks like for you or many of your friends.

Your WPER is here because friends like you grasp how desperately our world needs to hear about the God who loves them, chooses them, sees them and sent His son to die for them.  Record numbers of people are facing difficulties that leave them seeking worldly comfort and escape.  Simple tasks such as scheduling a lunch date with friends look very different.  Checking in with social media requires a new level of fortitude and wisdom.  Gathering with friends comes in the form of a video chat.  For many of us, church is still online or outdoors.

As you can imagine, we are hearing from so many who are struggling with isolation, depression, anxiety and fear.  They go on to share with us that “at just the right time” God has used something they heard on WPER to gift them peace and remind them that they are not alone.  Only truth that is grounded in God’s Word can heal hurting hearts and restore empty places.

Leanna Crawford has penned an amazing song…

“This is the truth I’m standing on. Even when all my strength is gone.

You are faithful forever. And I know You’ll never let me fall.

Right now I’m choosing to believe. Someday soon I’ll look back and see.

All the pain had a purpose. Your plan was perfect all along.

This is the truth I’m standing on.”

The theme for WPER’s Fall Fundraiser is “Truth I’m Standing On.”   You will hear powerful stories from people who are choosing to praise God, even as they navigate a year filled with much uncertainty and noise.  We believe that through the generosity of friends such as yourself, God will provide for our goal of $975,000.  Your support will enable WPER to keep reminding you, your friends and neighbors that God truly is working all things out.

Your gift will help build our Challenge Fund which will encourage other listeners to call in with gifts to match yours, as we work together to inspire more friends to seek His Kingdom.

When you partner with WPER you make it possible for thousands of friends to hear life-giving messages that bring calm and focus to drown out the world’s distraction and chatter.  Nobody is immune from the struggle.  This year has had challenges economically, mentally and definitely physically as we work to stay well and protect those we love.  Each of us has a powerful story.   Maybe you too have felt these words …

“Scared, oh I thought I knew scared.

Now I’m so filled with fear, I can barely move.

Doubts, I’ve had my share of doubts. But never more than right now.

I’m wondering where are You. I’m on the edge of fall apart.

But somehow Your promises find my troubled heart.”

WPER’s passion is to gift you positive messages that overshadow lyrics that although catchy can also have a very negative or demeaning undertone.  Songs like the one shared above remind us that we are not alone in our struggle.   Our prayer is that you will be drawn to Christ, even as you walk through a year perhaps laced with more questions than answers.

“My rock, my shield, my firm foundation. I know I will not be shaken.

You remind me where my help comes from.”

In a world that seems to pull us further apart, drawing lines between us, WPER is more determined than ever to declare how loved, worthy, chosen and precious you are in His sight. Your support could never matter more as together we encourage and pour hope into weary friends.

We appreciate that there are some really great causes seeking your financial support.  That’s why I can assure you that your gift is prayed over and we use the funds you so kindly give to carry out a really important mission that inspires people to live passionately for Jesus Christ.

Please prayerfully consider what amount you will give to help with our Fall Fundraiser.  Your gift of will be doubled as listeners come alongside you to inspire others.

You can also give safely and conveniently on-line here.  Should you have any questions about giving feel free to call our Partner Services team at 877-321-3811.

We look forward to hearing from you.  And we know that along with your generous financial partnership you will join us in praying as God moves in so many hearts and lives through what is heard on WPER.

And yes, I stand on truth!
