My good friend, Sylvia, whom I’ve been friends with for 33-years now (most of my life), was diagnosed with stage-4 colon cancer last April (2023). She had 2 major surgeries- one in Sept. to remove the 12” mass on her colon & the other in Nov. to remove part of her liver that the cancer had spread to. Up until she was diagnosed, she was an extremely healthy person, so this cancer came out of the blue & hit her like a ton of bricks. She put her life on hold to have the surgeries & multiple, multiple rounds of chemo. Things were looking good after her last surgery on Nov. 17th, but then she hit an obstacle in the road about 2-weeks ago, when she had a routine CT Scan just to check on things, & it showed a spot on her liver. Her doctor couldn’t understand it because she was told she was cancer-free after her last surgery on Nov.17th, so in just 2-months time, the cancer may have come back. I say “may have” because the doctor is still hoping it’s just a shadow that both radiologists saw on her scan, but at the same time, he is concerned. He’s ordered a MRI that is going to be done tomorrow- Friday, Feb. 9th- which will show, for sure, whether the cancer has spread to her liver again. If it has, he’s already told her that they can’t take anymore of her liver, & that basically, there won’t be much else they can do for her. Sylvia is just 57 & has a full life with her 2 grown sons, 4 grandchildren, & career as a teacher. Sadly, she lost her husband, Bruce, very suddenly 3-years ago to a heart attack, & therefore, has had to go through her cancer treatments without her partner in life. She is the most God-fearing, God-loving woman of faith that I have ever seen. She is always so positive, & so grateful for everything she’s been given. She’s the epitome of a deeply-rooted, Christian woman. Please pray that the MRI she’s having done tomorrow shows only a shadow & not that the cancer has spread again to her liver. Thank you so much for your prayers for my friend.
